The 2-day Training-of -Trainer (TOT) sessions were conducted to teach the Selangor State agencies to become CBDRR trainers under the SeDAR program.  Two sessions were conducted, one in April 2022 and another in May 2022.  The resulting trainers are known as ‘Master Trainers’.

Each session comprises 3 modules: (1) Understanding DRR Concepts, where trainees learn about basics concepts in Disaster Risk Management and Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction; (2) Understanding Local Risks, which provides an explanation of hazard and risk as well as science- and evidence-based explanation of the local risks in each of the 4 project areas; and (3) Planning, Implementing and Evaluating CBDRR Program, which provides step-by-step instructions on conducting town watching, community mapping and tips on how to evaluate and sustain the programs.

The value of the sessions is that the content of the modules drew on the knowledge base and vast experience in Japan.

A total of 31 Master Trainers were created.
