On October 7, 2019, the first of three risk communication sessions under the SeDAR program was carried out. In this session, local government officials and community leaders in the Ulu Klang area learned about landslide hazards, the causes of landslides, and what communities can do about landslide mitigation.  Participants also learned about hazard and risk maps and how they can be used to visualize landslide risks and start a dialogue among the residents about future actions for preventive action.  Also included in this session (and in the following sessions) is a talk given by an expert sharing the experience of community-based disaster risk reduction in Japan.
