Community Evacuation Materials

Posters and Fridge Magnets

For each of the villages in the project areas of the Kapar sub-districts, A0- and A1-sized posters showing the locations of the evacuation centres in the villages were created.  In addition, community actions to take when the flood warning and evacuation sirens activated are clearly explained.  These posters are put up in public places such as community halls, schools and mosques.

Signage for Temporary Evacuation Centres

Feedback from the communities in the Kapar sub-districts revealed that many residents were not aware of the locations of the evacuation centres within their area.  This may cause confusion and delay when an evacuation centre location is announced during a disaster emergency.  For this purpose, a signage measuring 2 feet x 3 feet was designed, printed and distributed for handing up at evacuation centre facilities.

The design was co-created by the village leaders of Kapar and Hulu Langat, who gave input to ensure that it would be clearly understood by people of all walks of life.  The signage was endorsed by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and given approval by the Dept of Education, Department of Islamic Religion, district offices, and municipal councils.
